The project
This was a mobile-first shopping app experience Built by Buit developed for a vegan, cruelty-free cosmetics brand, with an AI feature at its core that helps shoppers find shades and products suited to them, plus the polish and reliability work needed to be launch-ready.
The challenge
The brand needed more than a storefront: a polished app experience, an AI-powered feature flow that felt personal, a clean mobile-first interface, and the stability to be launch-ready, not just a demo.
The approach
We built an AI personalization feature (“Glow”) that recommends flattering shades and products from a short quiz or an optional selfie, wrapped in a fast, mobile-first shopping flow and a satisfying result screen.

A lot of the work was in the moments most apps skip: thoughtful loading and skeleton states, a reveal flow that builds confidence, readable color swatches, graceful handling when something goes wrong, and mobile behavior that stays smooth from first tap to checkout.
Under the hood
Technical approach
The app is built cross-platform for iOS, Android, and web from one codebase, with a backend service powering the AI features and a privacy-first design where images are processed in memory and discarded. The build went through dedicated hardening for reliability, error handling, and cost controls on the AI layer.
